7mm-08 for game
How big of a game would you recommend using the 7mm-08 on? What games would you limit The 7-08 to?

Anything in North America except angry brown bears.

I shoot a 7X57 (pretty much the same ballistic performance), and I would try almost anything on 4 legs (I'll pass on brown bear, thank you) without qualms.

My brother and his wife lease cattle grazing rights near Thermopolis, Wyoming. The hunting in that area is legendary. She has taken many elk, mule deer, and 'lopes with her lever action Browning in 7mm-08. This rifle is perfect for a "lefty" and the 7mm-08 cartridge is quite excellent also.
My brother buys 140 grain ammo for her rifle. For elk its the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullet. Good hunting to you. Jack

I concur. The 7mm-08 is a wonderful cartridge for North American game, except for the big bears.

Any critter in North America. I'd opt for something heavier for brown bears though.

Fullboar, the deal is "Kill? Yes. Stop? No."
The 7mm08 is a .308 with ten grains less bullet weight for the most common hunting load. |

I love my 7mm-08 and consider it a premier deer/pig round for our neck of the woods. I do shoot a heavier bullet than most at 150grns over about 45.5grns of H4350. I equate it to the 165grn in the .308 Win. Nothing that I have shot with it has lived to tell a tale. Most of the time and for some reason it has left a devastating wound that's larger than my '06's. I just wish I could get one chambered in this Savage 10 Precision Carbine set-up that I have and not spend a mint doing it. |

Love the 7mm-08. Leave the big Bears alone and with a 140 grain bullet it will take care of anything else in North America. |
