While I now build my own AR's, my suggestion for someone new to AR's would be to buy a complete rifle. Most of us started with some form of carbine length M4gery and learned from use and modifications what we liked and what we didn't, is almost a right of passage as an AR owner. So, my suggestion would be to buy a complete PSA lower (I'd recommend an MOE EPT lower) and a complete upper and just pin them together. If that's too complicated, then I'd recommend a S&W M&P, Sig M400, or Springfield Saint, all of which are solid, reliable rifles.

I started with a 20" Rock River with their 2 stage trigger. Next put a 16" Rock River upper on a Ruger lower....... The Ruger has a 2 stage trigger, if blind folded you could not tell which is which just by the trigger pull. As far as I can tell, no difference.
