Need some advice on a possible trade input please

My buddy wants to trade me a Ruger .22 pistol mark II competition target model in stainless steel. The pistol is in like new condition with original box less than 25 rounds fired through it. I really like the piece.

He wants my Kel-tec sub 2000 with original box,plus all my 9mm ammo with my Glock mags. The only firearm I own that uses 9mm. Thank you

I'd say no--unless there was some cash to boot.

The Mark II Ruger Competition Model (I believe the model number is KMK-678) is a nice handgun. I have one, and it's my backup for Conventional Pistol shooting.

But the rifle you show carries roughly the same price tag as one of those did new. Plus, you have magazines and ammo.

I'd trade for the pistol and $150.00...maybe.

The mark II is famous for its accuracy and holds its trade value so well...i traded it my brother for a S&W .38 snub for my girl at the time and i regretted it.

It's a done deal. The kel-tec has a new home. I thought, I was just getting the pistol only. I got the original box, manuals, scope attachment, lock and three mags. I can't wait to shoot it.

That is beautiful mark! Next time I would check gunbroker first, you sub 2k outfit with glock mags would have probably bought 2 of these rugers...especially with going rate of the 33rd happy sticks

It's a done deal, but I think you could have done better. Might want to check out current prices for everything next time. The mags and ammo make it a not so good deal.

I am very much aware what my sub 9 would of brought on gunbroker. ( I could care less) The gentlemen I traded with is a true friend and gun collector. He could not afford 1K for the sub 9.

I had aprx. 475.00 invested in the kel-tec as seen in picture with mags and ammo. I purchased pre panic time-line He had 500.00 in the ruger. In my eyes an excellent trade. In the end we're still good friends and both very pleased with the trade.

I had that exact same Ruger but sold it a few years ago. I wish now that I hadn't. You're gonna love shooting it, assuming you can find some 22 ammo somewhere.

Honest opinion: the Sub-2k has irrational "value" now, and it may hold that value or climb due to the political climate, so if it's about money, you took the short end of the stick.

However, if it's about guns, shooting, enjoyment, quality, pride of ownership, and, well, just about everything else OTHER then straight dollar "value" then I am quite sure you made a fantastic deal. No doubt. Excellent pistol you took in trade for what amounts to a cheap, oddball curio that has a huge following because it's "scary" and compact.

I don't have the longer competition target, but I do have the KMK-512, and it may actually be my finest firearm I own depending on the criteria we'd use to judge.

I also have a Sub2k.

If you sold the Sub and Glock mags separately on gunbroker, you would have gotten 200 bucks plus for the mags and 500-600 for the Sub2000.

The Ruger mk. ii runs 500-700.

All things considered, you probably wound up on the negative side money-wise but traded up to a much better gun.

I never worry about exact values when trading guns with close friends or family. If you both feel good about the trade that's good enough.

Personally, I would be much happier with that slab side MkII than the Kel-Tec. Comparing the two, the Kel-Tec 9mm is just an expensive plinker, where the Ruger (especially scoped) is a very accurate firearm.

Accuracy always makes the shooting much more fun.
