FI Model D Rear Sight Replacement
Hello,
My FI Model D (imported Star Model DK .380) rear sight is a bit of a mess. It is comprised of a base piece (dovetailed into slide) with a small spring, screw and sight blade that fits into the base allowing the sight to be adjusted for windage with the small screw. The bluing is wearing off the base and the blade itself wobbles in the small rounded track (something like a see saw movement). I've sanded the bottom of the blade thinking it may not be flat but that hasn't helped. I suspect over the 20 year life of the gun is has been bumped around some and just isn't snug anymore. E Gunparts, surprisingly, has the whole assembly for this available at a reasonable price. My question is how hard is this to replace on my own? I am reasonably mechanically inclined. Any thoughts? |

FScott, it's not difficult. The sight is just drifted out and a new one drifted in. Use a non-marring brass or nylon drift punch. George
