Gunsmithing tools...

I basically know everything I need, but I'm curious to see how people respond to this to see if I'm overlooking anything.

If you had no tools, and you were about to go out to head off to the local hardware/tool shop, what would be on your list if your intention was to outfit a basic gunsmithing shop?

Include everything, even the basics like screwdrivers, etc.

This thread will, of course lead to nothing but evil as far as my bank account goes...

Knowing you? I'd say a vise, a really really big dremel, and an even bigger blowtorch.

Well I know the first thing that would go into your shop, Tom...

A 55 gallon drum of Loctite to dip all of your actions in.

Ah, so you two know each other...

- A really sturdy Corian-topped workbench with a Wilson vise.
- A set of Brownell's replaceable-head pin punches, with starters.
- A hammer. Another hammer, with a non-marring face.
- A nice set of hollow-ground screwdrivers.
- A Dremel tool and a bunch of wheels and heads.
- A small clamp-on vice.
- Ceramic stones.
- A magnetic sticky-probe for chasing small parts under the bench.

- Chris

The first thing I'd get would be a Brownell's catalog.

Blade has solid advice. Get the Brownells catalog. The have good starter sets for reasonable prices that you can ad to later.
