Help with markings on a 1907 Sanderson Bayonet

Hi all,

I run an antique/consignment shop, (not the owner, just the poor guy she pays to manage it) and yesterday I received a bayonet on consignment.

Very simple and quick research pointed to it being a Sanderson model 1907, but some of the stampings near the hilt concern me a bit.

For example, on one side it has a stamping of '16, and on the other is one of '27. Every bit of research I've done says that those would be dates of manufacture...which makes me worry that it might have been tampered with, or a total fake/reproduction.

It has the bend mark, as well as several inspection marks on it. (I can supply a photo or two once my camera batteries recharge.) As I'm simply not a weapons or militaria expert, I don't know if any of this is truly normal, or if it's out of the ordinary, or worse yet, evidence of fraud.

(Though as common as these things are, I wouldn't think there'd be a market for deliberate fakes.)
