.223 Rem--75grHornady "A"Max loads ???

Old Sneaky here: I'd like some load suggestions for .223Rem with 75gr Hornady "A"Max. I've got IMR-4895 and Varget powders and am using both Wincheter and "Mil-spec" cases and Win S/R primers. appreciate both starting and Max loads- to be used in AR-15 gun, not bolt. THANX--SNEAKY

75 AMAX Varget 24.6 CCI-BR4 LC . Reduce 10% for start. These must be seated long and single fired. They are too long for magazine length seating as the ogive will be in the case reducing the powder capacity too much and accuracy suffers greatly.
Watch for pierced primers when using the WSRs. I prefer a thicker cupped primer like the Rem 7-1/2 or the CCI-BR4.
You did not mention your barrel twist or length. I did not get good performance with the 75 A-Max in my 20 inch 1 in 9. However they were super accurate in my 24 in 1 in 9. They are an absolute hammer from my 26 inch 1 in 7 WOA. I also moly coat all my bullets so my actual powder charges are higher than the above. I have also found that in my rifle, velocity of between 2850 and 3000 were the most accurate. I have run the 75 A-Max up to 3150 fps with V-V N540 Which is not a real barrel friendly powder.

Sneaky here: I've got 2 uppers that the 75gr"A"-max will work in aJP_Enterprises 24" 1-9 super match bbl and a DPMS Nat-Match 20"1-8. I should have mentioned that the 75gr "A"-Max were Moly and I do moly treat the bbl befor shooting. You said something that intrigued me--you mentioned Viht N-550. I've got a bunch of Viht N560 that I use for my 6.5 Swed milsurps and i'm under the impression that it is too slow for .223????. Lately I've been shooting 55gr Hornady "V"-Max moly--25.5 gr IMR 4895 @ 3150FPS in 100yd reduced yard 600yd MR-31 targets and that load is wicked. In a 50 round match today shot 500/32X

Sorry I was thinking in two calibers at the same time. Not N-550.

N560 will be too slow for even the 80 or 90 grainers. I have used N-540 with 75 and 80 grain bullets in the 26 in barrel. It does get exceptional velocity, But seems very smooth and the accuracy is very good. CCI 450 primers work best.

Looks like you had a good day at your match.
