Red Dot on a 30-06
I have a Remington 750 Woodsmaster 30-06. Looking to put a red dot sight on it. I emailed Aimpoint to see what they had that would withstand the recoil but got no response. I prefer a 1moa or 2 moa dot. Know of any? I'll probably catch some flack for wanting to put a red dot on a 30-06 but I already have a 6.5CM set up for long range and I'm working on setting a 308 up as well. Just using the 30-06 for deer drives 200 yards would be the max with most shots at 50 yards or less. Thanks.

Burris FastFire3. I had one on a 45-70 and a 44mag. No problems and they both shot very, very well.

Most of the aimpoint stuff should be fine.
Anything that can handle a shotgun using hunting loads should hold up well enough. |

Or can handle a 308 recoil. Reddot on a close in woods guns sounds perfect to me.

I have a Vortex Strike fire II R/G Dot I'm not using if you would be interested. Not trying to advertise or anything, but it's a great sight. I prefer Irons on my AR and took it off. It's practically new. Just thought I'd add In case.

Instead of a non magnified red dot. Have you thought about a 1-4x scope. They are small and light they can be found with illuminated reticles too. I'm 100% positive a scope like that will hold up to the recoil.

No I haven't given a 1-4 scope any thought. Don't know to much about them. I'm not to worried about weight, more concerned with quick target acquisition.
I'll look into the vortex. I don't really know to much about red dots, only used them a few times. How much eere you looking to sell for? |

I got out of the dot sight game several years ago. I find a 1-4X20 scope set on 1x much faster than irons, dots, or more powerful scopes. Especially in poor light. The dot is easy to see in poor light, but the optics are so poor on dot sights that you can't find the target. You get the versatility to use it on 4X for longer shots. Weight is about 8 oz, not much more than a dot sight and price is generally better. This is about $200, a Weaver 1-3X20 is about $180.

I payed $190 after taxes and it has just been mounted on my AR since I got it and only shot with maybe once or twice. It includes the Cantilever mount, though I doubt you'll need that. Would $160 be too steep? It is like NIB. If you are interested or have any questions PM me and we can talk more about it.
