4320 in .300 WSM

Is there any reloading data for 4320 powder in a .300 WSM. Has anyone used it? I have alot of 4320 but there is nothing out there saying that you could or could not use it or should or should not use it in wsm Cartridges.

IMR4320 is a relatively fast powder, close to WW748 on the comparative burn rate charts. Although I am sure it would work as a propellant, it is probably too fast of a powder to be very useful for the WSM cartridges.

According to the Hodgdon website, it's usable thru the 150 gr bullet weights. Otherwise the powder is too quick for heavier bullets. So, if you're shooting 150's or lighter, it's a good powder. If you're shooting heavier bullets, other powders that are slower are much better. Here's Hodgdons website:

I'd use 4350, 4831, and 7828 in your 300 WSM. 4320 is mighty good powder in my '06 so if you send it to me, I'll make sure it gets put to good use. It's a bit too fast for a magnum rifle, but no doubt someone will publish data for it sometime soon. Check the Hodgdon website; they are distributors for IMR now and they might have the data.

300 Wsm

I've had good results with H414 at 64.4 grains with the Nosler and Hornady products at 165 grains. I switched to the Hornadys for cost. I haven't had a chrony on the load but I'm thinking 2970-3030 fps. This is in a Browning A-Bolt S/S (no Boss) and I'm .750 -1.00 for 4 shots, and I need to fine tune it a little yet. I do need to try IMR 4350 when I go up to 180 grains to see if it makes a difference. I did try the Barnes Bullets, they work great on game, but the groupings opened up a little. For a hunting only load those are worth a look. Some people have great accuracy too.
