Versatile Accurate 10mm Powder?

Got some 200 grain Rainier FPs for my 10mm.

I'm a 10mm newbie with a newly purchased Glock 20 (4.6 inch barrel).

Looking for a good powder than is versatile but won't trash my expensive brass after just a couple of uses.

Use a faster powder that builds lower pressures?

Seems like there is a lot of data on AA#7. Tried TiteGroup and its a nice light target grade powder. Thinking about Universal or HS-6- Maybe better for a heavier bullet and a longer barrel.

Is there a powder that can load accurate target loads and some accurate stout loads too?

What powders are you using for the heavier 10mm bullets and why?

Glocks limit brass life to only four or five times reloading due to the unsupported chamber. The brass should be discarded regardless after five times to ensure that you will not have a catastrophic failure of you gun.

Accurate #5, #7 and #9 are all good choices.

Hi-Shok and Accurate #9 are my favorates, but for full throttle power. Accurate #5 and Winchester 231 for plinking and cutting paper.

I bought some 215 SWC's for 10mm, loaded them with V/V N350, I haven't chrono'd them, but they do go off with quite a bit of authority. I've never tried any 200's, but liked WSF, WAP and AA#7 in 180's. This is in a Delta, I use brass a couple of times for fierce loads, then use it for milder practice loads. Good shooting.

I like this alot in 357 SIG. Very accurate, tends to fill the case. Leaves some leftover powder in the gun, tho.

I shoot competition with a STI chambered for 10mm and a Delta Elite. The mixture that I am finally happy with after several years of mixing and matching is:
CCI 300 SLP, 4.6 gr of W231, 220 gr L-RN (Precision Bullets), Winchester Brass, COAL 1.40", DIA. .421;
This bullet will travel between 852-863 fps. I would look at buying a new barrel for your glock ($185.00) to keep your brass from expanding too much. This will increase the life spand of your brass.

I normally use HS-6 for 10mm, but... I just got the new Hodgson Basic Reloaders Manual -- 2001 Edition. It lists two new loads for 10mm with Longshot Powder. The 200 grain HDY FMJ MAX LOAD is listed as 8.2 grains of Longshot with a velocity of 1196 ft./sec. at a pressure of 23,900 PSI, both numbers are significantly better than any of their other powders. I am interested in trying this load but want to know if anyone has tried this type of load yet? BTW I called Hodgson and the pressure and velocity are not a misprint.

I just started reloading for the 10mm myself. So far I have found that HP-38 and Universal Clays to be my personal favorites.

Use a tight resizing die.
