Website loaded with ballistic information.
Hey guys, does anyone know of a website where I could see example of various rounds being fired into ballistic gelatin?
Specifically, I am looking into Federal Hydra-Shok 135 and 155 grains in .40 caliber. I do not want a 'what bullet to use' thread war. I just want some help finding the information. While I would like to see numbers (FPS, penetration, and whatnot) I would strongly like to see the gelatin so I can tell what would best protect me. Thank you all. |

Try these....
Not sure for your specific ammo request, but here are a few links I've found along the way...
Check this out: (w/ pix of gel tests of various ammo - read the whole thread) http://www.tacticalforums.com/cgi-bi...;f=78;t=000581 Also, when I was at the Rally Point on Aug 20, Mike from Cor-bon brought some gel and people were shooting their JHP and +p ammo into it for personal tests. I could try to track down the pictures and data from that (another guy took the pictures). Very informative to watch in person. Most of the ammo tested had 11"-14" penetration at about 6'-8' distance, and that's through 4 layers of denim. Also, I'm not sure what these sites have exactly, but with some digging, maybe you'll find something. One of my favorites: http://www.theboxotruth.com/ Good reading: http://www.firearmstactical.com/ Let me know if any of these has what you're looking for.

Dave
Kudos my man, that first link was almost exactly what I was looking for.
They did not have the exact bullets I carry, but they came close. I can make a reasonable discernment however, that since mine are lighter in grains, they will have more fps, but being .40 and since HST seem to have rather consistent expansion rates, I can expect to see good performance. From the looks of it, as long as I stay away from 9mm crap, I will be fine. Thanks a bunch bud. |

You're welcome, SomeKid. Glad one of my bookmarks was useful.
