.45 ACP Flat point or Round nose???

Can someone tell me what would be better for target shooting for my Sig P220 and Springfield "Loaded" fullsize? I am looking into getting my first batch of Rainier bullets. I was originally wanting 200gr SWC..but they are out of stock till Mar 29 at Midway USA. If I went with a 200gr Flat point, could I expect the very clean holes as with a SWC bullet? All I have used before are 230gr FMJ bullets from another company, and would like to try something different. What kind of reliabity can I expect in my Sig P220 with a SWC or FP bullet? What about with my Springfield "Loaded" full size? Thanks for the help!

With the flat point bullet, you will get a hole similar to the 230g ball ammo. It is the outside radius of the bullet's shape that determines the hole shape, sorry. Get the 200gr flatpoints anyway, they're good bullets. You may have trouble with feeding SWCs in your pistol. Pay close attention to OAL. You may want to polish the feed ramp of your gun <slightly>, although it's not mandatory. Be careful so you don't come screaming at me later for making you ruin your barrel. The FPs should feed OK and are generally as reliable as ball, but your gun may vary.

I've got a Sig P220 that I load 200gr SWC's (Mite-T brand I think) for. The pistol loves 'em! I'm on my 3rd box of 500, and have yet to have a failure or jam. 7 rounds @ 25 yrds into Approx 3.5, with 4 of the holes touching.
As to your original question, for FMJ, I prefer Flat Points.

If you want to compare prices try alabamaammo.com. They stock the Rainier bullets. They were short on my original request by a couple of hundred but made up for it plus some with another grain and style similar to what I originally ordered. Great price and quick shipping even during the holidays.

Fusternc. My Sig P-220 feeds the Lyman #452460 200 gr. semi-wadcutter without a bobble. Can't say what your Springfield would do with them, but I have 4 1911's that also feed them without problems.
If you get a 200 gr. bullet based ont he Hensley&Gibbs #68; those should work well too.
