That's what they cost new, or close to it, so I'm assuming it was new?

The Hi Point .40's soak up recoil quite well surprisingly. If I needed a cheap pistol for the car or bag, I'd buy one.

Yep its new
I had a hard time choosing between the 9mm or the 380ACP or the 40 S&W version or the 9mm with "YEET CANNON G1" printed on the slide. Gary |

Is that an accessory rail in front of the trigger guard?

I hear they are pretty accurate and are very well supported by their manufacturer.

Weird thing is
Its not a locking unlocking browning type action its a Blowback design with a fixed barrel and depends on the weight of the slide to aid operation Gary |

Good guns!
I've owned two Hi-points. Both 9mm. First one stove piped a lot and had to go back to factory. After that it ran like a champ. Second one I didn't have long as it was a free-be with a range membership, but it ran well while I had it. They are good guns for the money and life time warranty, you can't hardly go wrong.

I have a couple Hi-Points. 9MM and 45acp. Both are 100% reliable, and exceedingly accurate.
The first one I bought, the C9 was because of reading all the hate, and criticism aimed at Hi-Point I had to find out for myself if they could possibly be that bad. I was pleasantly surprised beyong belief at how good these guns are. Especially considering the price point. If you are new to the Points, and havent seen the torture test videos, you need to watch. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AbvvurXmA https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2FoWpog5KU4 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p_HXtEvjlGg https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LKkQm5TRaWE And more, especially in the second one on factory service. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3KnoiheeGbM https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qQU_icf92f8
