Best scope for a .17 Fireball ?

My friend's dad who is like 60 years old bought himself a .17 Fireball and he wants to buy a scope for it. He says he wants a 14x scope for it! Both myself and his son both think that is a little overkill for that round. If anyone on here owns/owned a .17 Fireball I was wondering what scope you have or would recommend?

The .17FB is good out to 250yards or more, depending on the target size. Leopold's 4-14 VX3 is a great choice. I have one on my .204R and really like it.
