Please recommend a reasonably priced rifle rest

I got my new scope mounted and need to sight it in this weekend. Can you suggest a reasonably priced rifle rest that you've used for me to purchase? Thanks!

Just get a Caldwell bag combo.
Available just about anywhere.
Fill it with crushed walnut/lizard litter from PetSmart.

The Caldwell bags are great but nothing beats a lead sled. I think I spent about 80 bucks for mine ... great for cleaning and sighting in. I tossed some lead bullets in a few bags to weigh it down.

Sorry friends, I should have provided more information. This will be for a Remington 700 .308 Winchester, sighted in at 100 yards, for elk season, and price less than $100.00.

old pair of jeans...cut off at the knee....filled with old pinto beans....sewed shut....been my rest for more years than I care to count

I use the Caldwell "The Rock Jr" and "universal rear shooting bag". Total cost is about
$60-$65. The Rock base lets you dial n your elevation. Used it for years and very satisfied with it.

sand, rice, beans, whatever - maybe $2.00

Folding chair from flea market, maybe $5

I got a small inexpensive Cauldwell now. Most my life though, I used sand bags made from jean's or shot bags. Don't see many canvas shot bags anymore though, plastic has replaced them. Piece of 6x6 about 12" long under the bags works well.

The Caldwell Dead Shot set works quite well for $40.

Up from there would be one of the lead sleds, but the basic one is about $100 + a $20 weight. I prefer this for sighting in hard kickers.

The X type bags like the bulls-bag work well too and filled with foam pellets, it carries well.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'd like something with elevation control, but the budget may prevent that.

I have a nice windage and elevation adjustable rest with a good rear bag. I also have a lead sled. The one piece, elevation adjustable lead sled is quite handy and only less accurate with my precision rifle.

Generally, I find basic bags have enough elevation, unless the range is at a steeper angle.

No it doesn't. My inexpensive Caldwell rest does have elevation control! To do it with just bags, you'd have to pile up bags to get where you want, or use the 6x6 block and then control the toe of the stock with a small bag in your off hand to squeeze to move the sight picture up and down.

Steady Point Shooting Rest, about $60 at Midway. Had mine maybe 10 years still works great. Recycled untold numbers of sod poodles shooting off it.
