Pedersoli makes one:
http://www.davide-pedersoli.com/sche...y-carbine.html Cherry's lists them: http://www.cherrys.com/ped_cart.htm Cimarron and Buffalo Arms have the less expensive Armi Sport Texas Model: http://cimarron-firearms.com/SingleS...portRifles.htm http://www.buffaloarms.com/1874_sing....aspx?CAT=3936 Still too much money for an imported copy, look at the real thing: http://www.shilohrifle.com/rifles.php http://csharpsarms.com/catalog-detai...r-s-Rifle.html |

I know Chiappa makes a bunch of different flavors of Sharps rifles. Anyone here ever own one of their gun? Most look to be full-length barrels, but that can fixed. I bet they are priced in the range of those Shiloh's, though.

Not to say anything against Chiappa, but the only Italian copy I have seen any number of at BPCR matches where they actually keep score is Pedersoli.

The closest thing I heard was that they felt well made at Shot Show, and a couple people (from Down Under, I believe) had glowing, if non-specific, reviews of the "Mare's Legs" they had bought. Most "reviews" of their rifles consist of complaints about .22LR 1911's (probably not constructed the same as a 45-70 ), and hurt feelings over the whole RFID/tinfoil thing . I do seem to recall Chiappa made 45-70 leverguns for Puma/Cimarron/somebody, that were well-thought-of. I see I have no choice but to buy one (you know, for research) TCB

I have NOT seen a Chiappa copy of Sharps in actual use to know about them for sure. I see a fair number of Pedersolis and very occasionally an Armi Sport.
The exchange rate is such that buying an import is false economy. A Shiloh still costs more but will not depreciate very fast. Me? I shoot a Japanese Browning "Highwall" and a real Winchester. A more modern design and more efficient. |

If Chiappa's Sharps is in any like their 1892 Winchester, it's likley to be first class.
