Best lead bullets
In your opinion, who is currently making the best quality lead bullets at a reasonable price? I need a bunch of 180gr .40 S&W bullets. They'll be loaded fairly hot to make USPSA major power factor, so a bullet that doesn't leave a lot of lead in the barrel would be great!

"Best" Lead Bullets
I use bullets from Missouri Bullet Company. They are a quality product at a good price. Their shipping is using the USPS flat-rate box. They can ship 70 pounds for the same price as 5.
Also, and here is a big point, you can order bullets in varying hardness which you can match to your muzzle velocity/pressure to eliminate leading. Check out their web site. They have a formula posted for you to figure out the hardness needed for your intended pressure. I have used .38 special and .45 auto. David

I have bought a lot from S&Scasting.com
The bullets show up in 3 days and are top quality and also the cheapest I have seen. Best buy a bunch now as the price of lead have more than doubled in the last year. |

Have you slugged your barrel to get an accurate measurement of the diameter bullet you need? A slightly undersized or oversized bullet will cause worse leading than a softer alloy. Most of the .40's will measure out at .401 but some will go as big as .402 or even .4025". If you know your exact bore size, you can usually order the best size for that particular gun and get great accuracy along with minimal leading.
Good luck. |

Wheel weights?
Frog saw I thought they added so much other metals to that lead now that you couldn't cast bullets with it....I must have been wrong. Where can I get a 40cal caster cause I have access to plenty of lead wheel weights.

Do not listen to frogsaw, I cast the best bullets from wheelweights for free.
For the price of one box of bullets you could buy the mould and cast them yourself |
