.223 speer gold dot

Anyone take any game with these? Are they better than your run of the mill soft point? I was considering taking them to use on a relatives property for hogs.

They are excellent controlled expansion bullets. They are accurate and give good penetration on larger varmints and deer. I believe they are the same bullet used in the Federal Fusion ammo. I use them in 62 and 64 gr.
You may also want to consider the Sierra 65 gr Gameking or the 64 gr Winchester Power Point. They are also made for use on medium size animals.
I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these bullets.
All bullets mentioned are very accurate in my Sako rifles which have 1/12 twist rate. I’m sure they will shoot even better in barrels with a faster twist.

We bought several boxes each of 55 and 64 grain when PSA had them on sale. Haven't tested the bullet performance yet, They would have to be super to equal the old stock Hornady "barrier buster" I've been using.

I picked up some 55 grain gold dots. Kind of wondering if they will be as good as the 64 grainers but I guess if not I can always grab some federal fusion for the few times I hunt hogs or deer.
