A few m1a questions
What is the verdict on the stock scout mount on the scout squad, and what sling would you guys recommend? If the scout rail is not too great what would you guys recommend for mounting optics?

Can't comment on the sling but the rail works fine. No issues no reason to do anything else.

What do you plan on using the rifle for? I use a 1907 leather sling on my M1A but you can also use a GI web sling. As to scope mounts? I tried several when I got my M1A around 1990 and the only thing consistent back then was they all sucked. They would work themselves loose. I only wanted to scope it to see how well it would do, not keep a scope on the rifle. My understanding is that the scope mounts have improved tremendously over the years so I am sure someone will suggest a good mount. Again, as to sling I like the 1907 GI type leather sling.
