So where is the 327 today??? ( I know, it's a beaten horse )

I load my own, & had already made a pretty big investment in 32 H&R revolvers ( I think 3 are enough, not counting my dozens of 32 S&W short & long antique revolvers ), so I never had a dog in that fight...

But while flipping through the Midway on line clearance page, I see that CorBon 327 ammo is on clearance... so I'm assuming that ammo has caught up with demand ???

the guys that bought guns, still like it ??? I love shooting my old 32's, have a J Frame I still buy H&R ammo for carrying, & I set my wife up to shoot 32 H&R in CAS with a matching pair of vintage stainless Rugers... so we like the bore, but I still don't see the need to go out & buy a 327, when I have plenty of other 32's, but if I didn't have my H&R chambered J frame, I think I would buy a 327 snubbie for CCW

I too am a big .32 H&R fan--since Ruger's (and my) first in 1984. Haven't bit on the .327 yet, but only $ are holding me back at this point, possibly converting one of my .32 Single Sixes first though the SP101 and Smith calls as well. I think you haven't heard a lot lately here as a few megathreads this past year did quite a number on the subject - pro and con. Check them out.

I'm really wanting a .327 Sp101 but there is a SP101 snub in .357 in my immediate future seeing as I started reloading for that round. However I am going to go ahead and get dies and components for the .327 so I wont have an excuse to not get one.

After being on a waiting list, I just got a call from StarLine Brass yesterday, asking if I still wanted the .327 brass shipment. My response-I SURE DO.
Pictured is my S&W 632 in .327 magnum which I like alot although at times I think about having that expansion chamber cut off the end of the barrel. American Eagle .327 magnum 100gr. clocks at 1430 fps out of the 3" barrel

I was just searching on this very topic yesterday. I just recently shot a .327 SP101 and really liked the feel of it. If ammo is available in my area, I very well may pick up the new 4.2 inch SP101 in .327.

I've put over 700 rounds of .327 ammo through my little SP-101 this summer. Nearly all handloads. To be honest, while I'm sure it's perfectly capable, I didn't buy this revolver for self-defense purposes. Instead, I bought it because a) it's fun and accurate to shoot, b) it's cheap to reload and c) I really get tired of chasing brass all over the range.

Revolver's may be old fashioned in some folks's opinions, but in many ways they make for a very good training day at the range. Less time digging for brass equals more time working on sight picture and trigger control.

I have a load of brass in the tumbler right now.

I like anything that promotes more 32 caliber shooting and more new componats. I have 4 32 mags including my holy grail gun, a 631 with a 4" barrel. I even got it at a decent price. (if $670 is a decent price). I also have 3 32 long S&W revolvers plus a Marlin 1894 in 32 mag.

I rarely load full power loads so a 327 doesn't seem to be needed for me. But for you guys who are sold on them all I can say is enjoy a cool little gun.

One of my 32 mags is an S&W model 431PD snubby. It weighs 15oz loaded. It stays in my night stand loaded with 85gr Hornady hollow points and is perfect for checking that strange noise you heard outside with no one knowing you are armed. What a neat little gun.

I would say the .32's and .45's are my favorite calibres. This S&W 332 Ti in .32 H&R mag has been my constant companion for the last 13 years. Buffalo Bore has a 100gr JHP +P load that clocks 1030fps out of that short barrel. Hold 6 rounds and weighs next to nothing.

I think it is likely that demand has actually caught up with the ammo.... which speaks as to why it is on clearance.

I'm sure the .327 is a great round but it never really had much of a chance for a lot of various reasons.

I haven't done much shooting this year, but I try to make sure at least one .327 goes on each trip.

I still like it, and plan to keep both revolvers indefinitely.
The Blackhawk came first, and is a lot of fun.
The GP100 came second, is a lot of fun, and is much more 'utilitarian'.

The GP100 routinely finds itself on nightstand duty, loaded with factory Speer 115 gr Gold Dots. (Frequently out-performs even .357 mag in expansion AND penetration in ballistic gelatin.)

Except for 9mm and .233 Rem, I have more brass for my .327s, than any other cartridge(s) I reload. I thoroughly enjoy shooting them, even if I go "light" for the day and only use .32 S&W Long or .32 H&R.

I haven't spent much time in gun shops, this year, either. But, last time I asked around, .327s were still selling very well. The only thing really holding it back in my area, is that some of the shops are still refusing to sell .327 ammo. (They'll sell all the .327 firearms they can get their hands on, but won't sell the ammo because there isn't room for as much mark-up as there is with common cartridges like 9mm, .45 Auto, and .357 Mag....

Some people think the .327 is now dying.
All I know, is that mine are just getting started.

If a .380, 38 special, 9 mm are good for self defense, the .327 Fed Mag should be as well. Personally, if that need ever arose, the Speer 115 gr gold dot ammo would be a good choice, and in my opinion would be every bit as capable as the calibers I listed.

The SP101 is a pleasure to shoot. Hate the front sight, but that problem can be fixed. Some folks don't llike new fangled things. I do.

Why is it some shooters insist on deeming cartridges a failure if it doesn't supplant existing cartridges in popularity? I saw the same thing when the .204 Ruger came out. Shooters didn't rush out and replace their .22-250's and .223's with em so some instantly touted how the round would be gone in short order. Guess they were wrong even though to this day the .204 doesn't surpass the sales of it's competition. .327, same deal. It's not gonna un-seat the .38/.357. It may never even get 10% of the market. Does that mean it's a failure and to be banished to the depths of the ocean? Not.

Add to the 327's versitility is the fact it will chamber & fire the 32 acp. I've never bothered with ball ammo, but I have a full case of 32 plastic training ammo that is a pita to shoot in an auto, but real fun in the revolver. ( the girls love it). A 6 grain bullet @1000 fps will ventilate a beverage container.

How do you like that load? Seems like a very reasonable choice...kind of a 9mm +P+ energy-wise, but I'm curious as to how it shoots.

The American Eagle 100 grain soft points @ 1500 fps show real promise on paper, but are the loudest, most obnoxious sounding high-pitched, ear-ringing catridges I've ever fired in any handgun, even exceeding the hot 125s I sometimes shoot out of my 357s. I only shoot the AE100s to "harvest" the brass and would never want to touch off one of those little monsters indoors in the middle of the night.

threedogdad, I only keep factory ammo on hand for hunting situations where I may need to prove that the particular load meets energy requirements, and for HD/SD.
So... I tend to go for good SD stuff, and the highest energy numbers I can find.

The 115 gr Gold Dot load is kind of a mediocre-looking load, on paper. But, in ballistics gelatin, it performs very well. (As I said... it's usually better than some of the best .357 Mag loads.)

It's plenty accurate and doesn't have the bark or bite of some other loads.
In the Blackhawk, it runs something like 1,430 fps. So, it shouldn't be running much less than about 1,375 fps in the GP100.

As for the 100 gr AE... I love it. It has some bark, but I still think equivalent .357 Mag loads are worse - even out of longer barrels.
Out of my Blackhawk, the 100 gr AE load runs right around 1,680 fps. (Up to 1,725 fps, on really hot days.) I don't think I've chronographed it in the GP100, yet.
I hate buying factory ammo, so I shoot the 100 gr AE load sparingly. But, I do like it; and need to pick up another box or two.

Like you, I wouldn't want to shoot it indoors.... but I'd prefer it over certain "full house" .357 loads.
