How much power does a SBS loose?

I am still thinking about eventually making a NFA short barrel shot gun from a Cheep stouger SXS I have had for some time.

I am wonder how much power I will loose if I cut it down to the end of the front Stock (about 8 - 9 inches) If I am able to have screw in chokes installed (If that is possible) would this gun still have enough power to be used for hunting things like Quayle and Squirlls... may be Pheasants? All so is it leagle to hunt with an NFA weapon?

p.s. sorry for the spelling, my spell checker is not working today.

Shot placement is everything! I would rather take a round of 50BMG to the foot than a 22short to the base of the skull.

all 26 of my guns are 45/70 govt, 357 mag, 22 or 12 ga... I believe in keeping it simple. Wish my wife did as well...
