Looking for Baby Glock in a 1911

http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...egory_rn=15709

I recently shot a 45 and was very impressed at how minimal the recoil was and how easily I could stay on target that I decided to consider a 1911 45acp. I came across the Smith above and it felt very confortable and seems easy to conceal but wanted to see if anyone has some reviews or information about it or any other models I should consider. I really am unfamiliar with 1911s so would appreciate any help you can offer. My main concern is concealability and comfort while carrying. I aslo would like to know what smaller options there are and if the pistol above or any other ones reccomended are reliable enough. I guess I am basically looking for the Baby Glock in a 1911.

Thanks

The Smith 1911 has had good reviews. Most people seem to be happy with them.

In reference to small 1911's, these are what gives 1911s a bad name. You may wish to stick with either a full size government model, or a commander.

Is the one I mentioned above going to be reliable? I was a 4 in barrel I think. Is that too big to conceal comofrtably??? I have no experience with 1911s.

I would look at the escort, rogue, off-duty, and especially the LS9 (only problem with LS9 is it's not 45) models from STI. I just got a full sized STI Trojan and the thing is built like a fine watch.

Checkout the Springfield Armory EMP.

It's a new model but Smith makes excellent pistols and some of the best 1911s on the market and they stand behind their products. If we could get them here I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I have a Colt Officer's ACP that is reliable and accurate. It conceals well, but as it is the all steel version, I find it heavy for extended periods of IWB carry.
It is larger than the "baby" Glocks; I consider it closer to the Glock 19 in size.
Here's a comparison shot of my OACP and G27:

Regards,
Greg

Years ago I bought a Glock 36 45 ACP to replace the 1911 I carry IWB and was shocked at how well it carried and shot. If you can rent one give it a try mine maybe the most accurate handgun I have. The Glock 36 is lite and 100% reliable. If you spot someone shooting one at the range ask if you might give it a try. I have let people shoot mine and they honestly like it.

I did the same thing. I gave up one of my 1911's so that I'd have a reliable, concealable, .45 acp, semi automatic handgun. I regret letting go of that 1911, but I don't regret the Glock 36. It's the only Glock that I own, and the only one that I like. I don't care for the grip angle, but I don't notice it in the smaller package.
