Sako quick release

I recently aquired a Sako Finbear rifle in 300 win mag. With it came Sako scope mounts which are quick release. The whole package is pretty old and when I attempted to install my scope one of the rings let go from the base. It would seem that one of the small springed pins one one ring are missing. I called Beretta and was told you can't buy the pin and In would have to buy a whole new ring / base. The price I was given was ridiculous at $350. Any body have an idea where I can get one of these pins or if I even need it to use the ring? Thanks
