SWT, The Best Gun Info Mag Ever !

i do not have the current issue nearby, but the article on survival there is a photo of what appears to be a person blowing on his tinder to start a fire, in my survival training and as a member of the "American Mountain Men" i was taught to wave the tinder thru the air, blowing on it adds moisture from your breath that inhibits the tinder from bursting into fire.

"wave, don't blow" is what i was taught.., and it does work much better.

thank you Rich and Denny for a great informative magazine !

I never thought of that, but I'm sold on it.

I think the natural tendency to use the breath is because it can be "metered" so well and so instantaneously, in order to avoid "blowing away" that precious tinder. But the moisture issue? Just no way I can argue against that if another source of fresh oxygen can be found.
Thanks much for the tip-
