trigger problem
I am having problems with my 1897 Winchester 12 gauge.
The trigger has become almost a hair trigger. Blew a hole throug a floorboard by just bumping up against the interior of the truck ! Would this be a weak spring ? Would parts from any other gun also fit this model number ? Thanks, Phil (parmour) |

No that was caused by putting a loaded shotgun in the truck

The 1897 has a safety that blocks only the trigger. When the parts are worn it can fire even if the safety is 'ON'. Time to have the gun checked by a knowedgable gunsmith.

Win 1897
Thanks Mete,
I think you are right ! I was hoping it would be a spring or something simple that I could fix but seeing how it is almost going off by itself I better let someone competent fix it. Could be a combination of problems. Thanks, Phil ( parmour) |

Phil, get it to a smith, now. 97s are great shotguns, but most are older even than I.
