Folks,

I need to buy an 8lbs jub(see below) of H335 powder.

The shops here carry only 1lbs cans, or nothing at all.

I need this powder fairly soon, since I just ran out of the 1lbs can I bought to start my reloading.

I would really rather not buy bulk powder through the mail, but it seems I have no choice. I will if I have to.

Does anyone know where I can buy 8lbs jugs in the Los Angeles area?

Thanks for any and all help.

That should be JUG. I just noticed that!

I have been using Graf&Sons when mail ordering powder or primers in bulk, They carry all the major powders in canisters up to 8lbs.

Phone no. 800-531-2666 www.grafs.com

This company will also ship primers and powder in the same box saving you a hazmat charge.

Good Luck

Your local dealer will be more than happy to order 8-pounders for you.

I've always found the best powder/primer prices at gun shows. Another advantage of buying from a gun show as opposed to mail order is that there is no HazMat shipping fee. Don't take my word for it though. I've found that some places charge the same as mail order. Just something to keep in mind when the next show comes around.

Natchez has 335 on sale in their current sale catalog. I believe that it's around $92, plus hazmat and shipping. If you're loading for .223, you might want to try AA2200, which is just a little faster than 335 and costs only $45.95 for 8#, plus hazmat and shippng. I'm using 2200 exclusively in both my AR and Rem. VS .223's. Still like 335, but can't argue with the price and performance of 2200.

There is usually one large sporting goods/ gun type store somewhere in a state that has large amounts of canister. In Ohio we have Fin, Feather, Fur. I just bought an 8lb jug of W 748 for $100 OTD. You might have to ask around in your local shooter community and see where every one else is buying.
I never mail order powder/primers due to hazmat charges.

check with Widner's
www.wideners.com or 1-800-615-3006 for orders. They carry a variety of powders, commercial, and mil surplus types, among other things.

It is your money, but what have you got against mail order?

Check Midway USA, they have an 800 phone number, and might be another source.

Midway does "NOT" sell powder or primers. You may be thinking of Midsouth.

In California, I have found Easley's Gun Supplies in Visalia (559 651-2525). I live a good hour and a half away, but I just plan my trips to where I can go visit my grandparents at the same time. I just ordered a 8 pounder of 4064 and it should be $110-155 plus tax. They somehow ship all of their powder via a dynamite truck, therefore skipping the hazmat BS.
