Hmm, I'm really not sure of the model number. It's a .32 snubnose that my old man has owned for at least 40 years.

Model 14's are outstanding target guns. Value, of course, depends on condition. With minor wear I would guess about $400.

S&W reused the same serial numbers on different models over the years. That said, take the serial number off the bottom of the frames grip butt and include any letters with it. Is it a 5 shot or 6 and does the cylinder swing out like a modern revolver?

There are no letters, just 629034. It is a 6 shot and the cylinder does swing out. Thanks!

Edited for serial. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was given the wrong number.

Okay, the serial number puts it around 1955/56.

I'm not 100% positive on this but...
If it has a round butt grip frame it's a .32 Hand Ejector (pre model 30).
If it has a square butt grip frame it's a .32 Regulation Police (pre model 31).

Can someone give me an approximate age and Value of a S&W Model 10-5 SN#D2340XX. It has a 2" Barrell and is in Excellent shape with Original Box. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have what I believe is a .32 Hand Ejector, it's blued with a 3 1/4" barrel, s/n 502xxx. What can you guys tell me about this one? I know basically nothing about it.

will_reed-- good condition about $275, very good, 315 and excellent around 385. One about new in the box would fetch $600-$700.

eluu: SCSW indicates that the 61-3 was introduced in 1971 at S/N B40001, so you might want to check the numbers again. If correct, it wouldn't be the first time that Smith did something out of order or that the book needed a bit of tweaking. Still, the information given in the book is very definitive with regard to the Model 61 "dash" variations and their respective S/N ranges, which isn't always the case with many other models. If it's actually a 61-2, then the production date would be 1970 and the S/N would be in the right range.

The book lists the value, in excellent condition, at $250, but it's now more than 3 years out-of-date, so perhaps another $50 or so might be closer.

Interesting, the box actually indicates it's a Model No. 61-2, although the number on the bottom of the grip is clearly 61-3. It was INS (I assume "inspected by") by 3. Nothing in the PKR box.
The serial number is definitely B18XXX.

An add appeared locally today, and I jumped on it not really sure if it was a deal or not.

$375 w/Hogue grips and a S&W thumb brake duty holster.

Kinda old school.

eluu: Don't know what to say - I'm afraid I've exhausted my limited knowledge on the subject, other than to add that it wouldn't be the first time this sort of discrepancy has occurred. If it helps at all, SCSW indicates that the difference between the -2 and the -3 is that the -3 had a forged aluminum frame (implying that the -2 frame was steel? - it doesn't say).

I have my father-in-law's pistol that he had as a young man. He would be about 100 now if he were alive. Curious about age of the gun. Only number on the bottom of the handle is 660XXX.
