The book does not break it down any closer than 1957 to 1962. My best guess would be 1959.

1995. Don't know what grip but it would likely be some type rubber.

Two possibilities. If it has a hammer it's a .38 Double Action 3rd Model. Serial numbers ran from 119001 in 1884 to 322700 in 1895.
If no hammer then it's a .38 Safety Hammerless 4th Model. Serial numbers ran from 116003 in 1898 to 220000 in 1907.

Need year of production for my 38 Military & Police (pre model 10).

I have a 38 Military & Police (pre model 10).
The serial number at the frame with no prefix is: 66xxx.
It has a second serial number: V509xxx.
Top of the frame: US PROPERTY G.H.D.
Side of the barrel: 38 S&W SPECIAL CTG.

AAD

That would be the serial number. The "V" prefix was used during WWII to designate the .38 M&P as a Victory Model. SN's ran from V1 in 1942 to V769000 in 1944.

That would be the serial number and dates it to 1984.

Can anyone help me? I just received a MOD-38 airweight from my father-in-law. I’m trying to find out what it is worth. I’m having trouble locating a value based on serial number. If someone has the resources to help it would be greatly appreciated.
Smith & Wesson MOD-38 ser.#j880xxx
Thanks
