147gr Xtreme X-Def Bullets

So finally Xtreme has their line of defensive bullets back in stock. I have tested the 124gr variety before. Copies the gold dot line but they added a much deeper cavity to the hollow point. The lead is softer, as max velocity is listed at 1125fps. Absolutely perfect for sub compacts as with careful powder choices one can achieve 1100fps at standard pressure.

Moving on to the 147gr, I ordered a hundred round box of bullets, and caught the free shipping. $19 delivered. They kept the deep hollow point cavity and bullet length is pretty much same as the gold dot.

I opted to use the gold dot data, and from other tests and such, loaded these at 5.1gr BE86. 1.120" overall length.

Freedom Munitions offers these factory loaded as a +p at 950fps. With my chronograph on 41 degree day in North Central Ohio, I had a low of 1003fps and a High of 1030fps.

After testing in bare gel and with the FBI heavy clothing protocol, these rounds performed flawlessly. The deep hollow point cavity resisted plugging. Bare gel penetrated 12" inches, just made the minimum. Heavy clothing penetrated to 12.5". Both bullets had same expanded diameter.

If anyone is interested in watching the video, check it out.
