USed rifles starting to show up in the want adds!
I am beginning to see some for sale adds on my local email bulletin board to the effect:
"Must sell and am not making any money this, selling for what we have in it. Never Fired and one 30 rnd mag. M4 Flat top upper, adj. stock, mid-length gas system, mid-length rail handguards, removable A2 sights, 30 rnd mag and heavy barrel $2000" I think we may be seeing lots more of this type of stuff here in the near future as folks realize they spent the grocery money in a panic! Now, just to wait for them to start lowering the prices! Anyone else seeing it?

Check armslist, starting to see Colt ARs at their normal $1200 price point. Ammo is a different story, used to be able to get the 1080 round tuna cans of 5.45x39 for $150, LGS is trying to sell one for $330 ish. Don't even bother with surplus .308, dang near impossible to find.

I remember when I first built my AR a year or so ago, my stripped lower receiver was 90$ (not a name brand, but never had issues with it). All LGS in my area have them at 300$-350$. The AR parts are already available in my area, I will start getting excited when I'm not dropping the amount it cost me to complete a nice lower receiver on a stripped one.

Sellers might do better by selling ammunition and throwing the firearm in for free.

I was surprised I didn't see more hunting rifles and sporting shotguns for sale the last few month. I was pretty hopeful after my success in 2008.

Funny you post about this. I was just browsing through this little classified paper here and came across a listing for a S&W AR 15 for $1500.
A Bushmaster AR 15 (New) +3 mags $2400. And a DPMS Panther AR 15 223, with 600 rds of ammo and some other stuff, never been shot.. But have to call for price.. Uh huh... Oh wait..look... and another new Bushmaster AR 15 with 6 - 30 rd mags and 180 rds ammo. $1600. It's in full bloom around here apparently... |

It's not happening here yet, but I also expect the used market to flood. The trick is predicting when it will happen.

It's called "Buyers-Remorse"...
I don't own any black rifles, but if you own or buy a so called assault rifle now, & the AWB ever becomes law, won't you end up with an expensive gun you can't sell or take out to shoot? BTW: Funny thing, now that someone is threatening to tell me that I can't have one, I really have an itch to get an AR!!! |

It might be hard on a national level but not on a state level.
One would think there would be a gun saturation point reasonably soon. These things aren't cheap.

I went to one of our larger LGSs last week. The Wall-O-Handguns behind the counter was still pretty bare, but I saw 5-8 EBRs for sale. I hope that means that the buying panic is running out of steam.

I sold an an AR a week and a half ago to a LGS for what I had in it. I built it over four years ago out of a RRA upper, lower and adjustable stock. It had a single stage trigger and flip-up rear sight and I had never run a round through it. I mentioned that I was going to sell it for what I had in it and he jumped on it when I told him $875. I was surprised since I've been seeing Ars on the shelf here and there. I turned around that afternoon and picked up a new RRA Elite Operator II for $1,099 at another LGS. I didn't wait for the panic selling.
Of course, ammo is still AWOL.

If I want a Beretta 92, not a problem around here. Also, a fair amount of Taurus semis.
The gun show had pretty much everything standard.

My local paper had 2 ARs listed for sale. Both at semi reasonable prices. I have a buddy a couple hundred miles away wanting an AR. He said he would pay $1500 for one. Both of these were under that at $1200nand $1400 each. I will suggest he waits a couple more weeks and then begin looking.
In the 2008 panic ammo and guns were starting to come back around this area by mid April. By mid summer gunshow tables were weighted down with ARs and other EBRs and no one was even looking at them. The same was true with ammo. It did take 223 ammo a few more months before it was back to close to its original price. |

There were 5-6 ARs in the paper today, ranging from $1100 to $2500. Clearly, not ALL of the panic is gone.

The want ad paper for the western slope has been running quite a few listings for AR ,Ak type rifles, prices are all over the place .
higher priced rifles are not selling , the lower priced ones go quick. Ammunition is still over priced, .75 to $1.00 for .223. $35 for a 325 round box of 22lr. Magazines are starting to show up at double or triple regular prices. The panic is still going in Colorado, it might get worse. |

There is a real reason for a panic in Colorado. Right now the want ads around here are still full of overpriced ARs and some overpriced ammo but from what I can tell not too many are selling.
Heard on another web sight a dude went to the local Ft. Worth Gun show and prices there are returning to normal and not too many buyers. Dealers are overstocked. |
