Loads for 34 gr. 204 ruger

Anybody using the 34 gr. 20 cal bullets from Midwayusa or Midsouth (Varmint Express or Varmint Nightmare)?

I have tried to work up a load with RL15 because it has been fabulous with Hornady 32 & 40 V-Max, but not so good with these. I did notice better accuracy with COL of 2.24" (3/4" to 1") vs 2.22" (1.5"). I don't think the bullet is long enough to make them 2.26".

On the Midwayusa site a guy was using BLC(2) and another guy 748 but no mention of the # of grains or COL.

Midway ''Dogtown'' 34 gr

I was shooting my Rem 700 this week and was grouping some 34's from Midway as good as some Hornaday and Sierra. All were loaded with Varget. I like the cheap Dog town bullets for my target shooting.

I use those bullets for both .223 and .22-250 shooting.

Varget and H4895

Mine were labeled Dogtown and are 34 grain hollow points.

I have used Varget with 26; 26.5; 27; 27.5 grains and a length of 2.24.

H4895 with 26; 26.5 27; 27.5 with a length of 2.245.

Very good results with each powder, well under MOA with a few touching.

Thanks for the input guys.
Loaded my last V-Max the other day, so now I need to experiment with Varget, Benchmark & H4895. I can get a little of each from a friend and which groups best.

Great info. but is anyone using 8208 or imr4198?

I am trying to find data for 34 gr..204 in imr 8208 and imr 4198. I am a little nervous working up the load even though I know I can do it. If anyone can help please do.

Graymist's load data is full of 34 grain Varmit nightmare and Midway dogtown load data, look in the TC encore section's data. He has a great deal of time invested into this site and it shows.

Lots of different load data in this link.
