"Security" of handgun vaults

Hey there everyone, new guy here.

So I was hot to trot to go pick up a Bulldog BD1500 handgun vault until I stumbled on a video showing how easily they can be defeated. Has anyone modified theirs to reduce the ease of gaining access, if so, how? I don't expect it to hold up to a pry bar, but I would hope it would keep kids out.

Thanks,

Bob

Not familiar with that particular model. I've got a GunVault biometric gun safe. I can tell you it will take being dropped by a small child rather well. I also like that I don't have to remember a combination or fumble for keys at 3am if something goes bump in the night. Definitely don't think it is "robber proof" as you could get into it with a pry bar. But it will keep my 6yr old out with ease.

This model:

looks similar to the model you mention and you can buy it much cheaper on Amazon:

I don't know what your space requirements are. But I have the MicroVault

Again, much cheaper on Amazon:

If it's a little easier on your pocket book.

A handgun vault is not designed to prevent absolute entrance from a motivated burglar with tools and time. Its really meant to keep unwanted hands off - children, houseguests, etc.

We have one by the bed (.44 in it) and one in the bathroom (9mm with 45 rounds) which is the house's "Alamo." The one in the bathroom is also where I will put my CC when not on me.

Better to make it the house's "San Jacinto", if you know what I mean
