took it out to 1000y have to take a pic of the gong tommorow as the sun is starting to set and i didnt feel like driving back up to the targets
anyways groups fell apart at 1000y put up a 4 inch group at 1000y was expecting 2inch , velocitys are climbing as the chamber heats up poi was raising with each shot need a more stable powder edit didnt not test the 123's at 1000 just the 135 a-tips Last edited by mel80; November 21, 2020 at 08:15 PM. |

2000mr is not the powder for launching heavies out of a long barrel grendel its to slow of a powder . tested some 130g pills at 29.5g today and only achieved 2450 fps , loaded 5 more rounds of the same 130g rdf's with 28.2g of ppv and those were going 2830.
looking at burn rate charts my next choice was n140 powder , and then after looking at load data n540 will really push some heavies out of a grendel. cant find any data on the temp sensitivity of the 540 powder though , but i can for the n140 and its stable. i may buy a pound of each and give them both a go |

n540 looks promising , but its even slower on the burn charts then 2000mr, that being said vv has load data showing there loads going faster thnen my ppv loads so maybe it will work out , im assuming even though its slower the powder itself has alot more energy density.
if my lgs has some ill pick it up i know they had n140 and n135 on the shelf recently so ill see about the n540 , i did look online and its not worth it to order a single pound of powder with hazmat and shipping a single pound of n540 comes out to 68$ |

based on the data ive collected so far going threw a box of a-tips and can verify calcs are on out to 1000y , time to stretch it out a bit supersonic till 1900y at my altitude and current temps , in the summer when the ait gets even thinner i might see super out to 2k or just beyond

new chrono (magento speed) 5 rds 123g eld-m with 28.2g of ar-comp
2872 2891 2880 2878 2893 everything looks good but even at my extended oal im crunching powder so not going any further i need a good drop tube if i wanna continue going up just for ████s and giggles that 123g eld-m bullet takes 42.5-43g of reloader 17 to achieve 3k out of my 22 inch 6.5 creed this 28" grendel is basicaly a much lighter, cheaper to shoot 6.5 creedmoor i picked up some sierra 107g tmk's the plan was to use theese out of my 10.5 pistol build but u know damn well im going to launch some out of the 28 , im thinking theese will go around 3300 fps |

its that time of year so how about some 110 solid match moving at 3150 fps out of the grendel
this is my second favorite bullet just behind the 135 a-tip |
