In good condition, it is a $250-$300 rifle. The Savage version of the same rifle sells routinely for $325-$350ish in good condition. I know where there is one in rough shape for $125, but no takers.

It does not sound like a very good trade, but if you need a plain .30-30, and like a bolt action, the Stevens is OK, assuming good condition of action and bore. The Stevens and Savage .30-30 bolt actions are more accurate than one might think. Those I have worked with would handily outshoot the average lever action thutty-thutty.

I have a Savage 340 in 30-30 and would recommend them to any one. Great shooters and 30-30 is super easy to reload.
Now as far as trading for a S&W auto loader. NAH I dont think I would make that trade. |
