Hi everyone. I'm looking for sum help with a manufacture date on my S&W .357magnum. I'm going to invest in the catalog I have read about on here. I'm just excited & can't wait that long. It's never been fired & in pristine condition. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Serial # 4K24xxx

Don't know my model

Hi,
I have a s&w 22lr revolver with serial 34Kxxxx.
I don't know the year or the model.
I would find a manual to disassemble it and clean it.

Thanks in advance

Smith & Wesson Model 66-4

Will be selling a S&W Model 66-4 with a set of new unopened wood stocks. This item was purchased new and never fired. Can anyone give me the manuf, date (s/n BSH1xxx) & a fair market value of the revolver & stocks. I think I purchased it in the late eighties & S&W sent me the new stocks for free. There is one currently one on G/B 66-5 w/3" barrel at $900+ and going up. Thanks, AndyB

Inherited S&W Revolvers

I have inherited 3 S&W Revolvers that I am trying to find out the age of and approx worth so that I can sell them, as I am not a gun collector.
Smith & Wesson Mod-19 357 magnum SN K422XXX
Smith & Wesson 60-10 357 magnum SN CBL78XX
Smith & Wesson Pat. Apr.3.55 July 5.59 Dec.18.60 on top of barrel SN 785XX
Any information you can provide on these would be greatly appreciated.

34Kxxxx = 1978.
It would be a model 17.
I'm not aware of any on-line S&W manuals but if you contact S&W customer service they will send you an owners manual.

the N5xxxxx range ran from 1978 to 1980.

66-4's were made from 1994 to 1998. BSHxxxx dates to 1994/95.
You did not mention the barrel length but unless you have a 3" barrel it ain't going for anywhere near $900. You did not mention what type of stocks either.

Smith & Wesson 60-10 357 magnum SN CBL78XX

K422xxx = 1960.
CBL78XX = 1996/97.
785XX = I'm going to take a guess here that this is a Model Number One, 3rd Issue in 22 rimfire short in which the barrel would tip upward for loading/unloading? If so, SN's ran from 1 in 1868 to 131163 in 1881.

Model 14-6

Hi
I have recently bought a beautiful .38 Special Model 14-6 which I think is a Targetmaster. The serial number is CAA91xx. I am really pleased with it as it is in mint condition and so comfortable to use, the results make me look better than I really am.
Any idea of date of manufacture? Thanks in advance.

K-38 Masterpiece. However, the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson calls it the K-38 Target Masterpiece.

Not sure if that is a J prefix serial number you posted so:
J4968xx = Serial numbers ran from J370000 in 1976 to J610000 in 1977.
No "J" prefix 4968xx = about 1965.

smith and wesson age from serial number

a friend brought a s&w wheel gun in my store the other day that i could not find in my gun value book so i believe it was modified. It had a bull barrel a bo-mar sight railing system and it was in 357 mag. i looked for the model on the yoke and saw a " T " that was all. the serial # is c927xxx. any ideas about what i saw.

The serial number dates it as a Model 10 (38 Special) made in 1967. The fact that it has been modified and rechambered to 357 magnum would be a reason to avoid it.

Without inspecting it I couldn't tell you.
The model 13 (357 magnum version of the model 10) started production in 1974 and had a "D" prefix serial number from that era. in 1972 there were some model 10's chambered for 357 magnum as a special order for the N.Y.S.P. But your C prefix means that frame started life as a 38 special. So, there is no telling what all has been done to it.
