imformation on a shotgun (blackfield w)

i have a single shot shot gun that my grandpa gave me, he dosent remember where he got it... the name on the gun is "blackfield w" thats all. iv done alot of google-ing about it and have come up with nothing...but i think its a trade name or something...if anyone could tell me about it or where to go to find out id love it.

also im not sure if it would help but if a pic would help i can upload them

A great many old single and double guns were built by large companies like Crescent Arms for catalog sales stores like Sears, Wards, hardware stores, and anyone who was willing to pay them to make up a custom stamp with their name.
There were literally thousands of these store brands, most unknown today.

Without more identifying information, it's going to be very difficult to know who actually made it.
Hopefully someone who knows will post.

Blackfield W was a trade name used on shotguns made for, and sold by, Chicago retailer Hibbard, Spencer & Barlett. Maybe if we had good pics somebody could identify the maker, but it's a long shot.
