Reloaded Question!
Hello,
my name is Alan, new to reloading and to the forum. My question is:" Is there a law prohibiting sale of privately reloaded ammunition?" Does anyone know if there are any rules on that? Thanks, Alan |

Definitely laws against it unless you have a license to do so.

In order to load ammunition and resell it, you need a Type 6 FFL, Manufacturer of Ammunition for Firearms. 1 round, or 1,000,000 rounds, same deal.

Most of us have a homeowner's insurance policy - that has personal liability on it - and maybe a personal umbrella liabiltiy policy.
Insurance policies vary by state - but in general, if you sell ammo, neither of those policies is going to give you any coverage or help to defend you for a "business" - and if they find out you're reloading and selling ammo - the cancellation notice will be in the mail soon .... The cost of a commercial liablity policy - for loading and selling ammo - if you can find one - would easily cost you $ 5,000 a year or more .... which makes no sense unless you're really going to get into this in a big way - let alone the legal issues which will be a nightmare too.
