32 Revolver
Does anyone know anything about this gun? It is a S&W 32 Revolver and the serial number is on the bottom of the grip which is 42603 with a star after the numbers.

The star signifies it went back to S&W for either a refinish and /or repair some years back. Jim |

I was given my grandad's smith & wesson .32 long. I was wondering if anyone could help me determine the age. I'm just curious, because it could potentially be from the '40s as far as I know. The serial number on the bottom is 766xxx. Thanks in advance!

A model 15 would have a "K" prefix serial number and adjustable sights. If it is stamped as a model 15 it's simply miss-stamped. While not real common there are quite a few miss-stamped models out there. Jim Last edited by laytonj1; April 3, 2013 at 04:02 PM. |

Thanks what I thought. seems funny that Quality control would allow that mistake.

Smith 7 Wesson Model 18
I just acquired what I believe is a model 18 and I would like to know the approximate age. Behind the yoke it is marked
CNE 1209 18-7 (looks like a stamped number) 046 (another stamped number I think) Can you tell me the age and what the numbers mean? |

Thanks, Layton, it's .38. Looks like it's been shot just a few times. Outstanding original finish.

help with year
Hi,
Can anyone help with the year of manufacture of my .22 S&W model 17.4 I've just bought in France serial no. 85K46XX. ( the last two digits I've replaced with XX, I notice other posters don't give away the full number online is there a reason for this?) . Thanks in advance. Mike |
