Radom VIS Question

Does anyone know when Radom started using the crude horizontally grooved wood grips on the late war production ? Would these grips be correct for a pistol in the mid-second "G" series ? Were this grips "proofed" or otherwise marked ?

Grips would never be proofed or likely dated either. Never seen a Radom with anything but the plastic grips. I wonder if what you have are home made. Just a guess though.

Late war grips were wood, but not sure it they were adopted before or after production moved to Germany.

Some examples as early as the Z serial number block in the first alphabet series have been located with the grooved wood grips but are widely thought to be late war replacements on earlier guns.

Along about the H serial numbers (H4394) in the second alphabet series, the wood grooved grips appeared on Steyr production guns from the Radom supplied "kits". It's anybodies guess if this was really the beginning of the wood grooved grips, but a photo of this actual pistol exists and photos of production after that does appear to consistently have the wood grooved grips.

Wood grips then continued through the late K serial number, second alphabet series production.

One of the last photographed pistols is K9132 (wood grooved grips). K9150 has been reported with no firing proof or acceptance marks on the slide. This is indicative of the final production pistols.
