Handgun Bayonet

For $30 bucks from Cabelas I ordered a Ka-Bar handgun bayonet.

It's already off, and the TLR-2 back on, but it's a cool/fun/cheap add-on. Sharp too.

So, I see the novelty value of something like this and think it might be cool to have. However, do you believe there is any real value to something like this? Could it be used for genuine self defense purposes while mounted on the gun or would the gun be more effective as a club?

I can't speak from experience but just by looking at it, I would guess that as a self defense tool, the money would be better spent on a decent 3"+ folder from Spyderco or Benchmade.

The BG might giggle himself to death if attacked with that, until he had bullet wounds AND stab wounds that is...

There is no SD use for this bayonet for me. Sure, it's sharp, but it's a novelty item and that's where it ends. Like I said, the TLR-2 is already back on.

Just a funny piece to haveā€¦..i'll take it out to the range

Looks like it'd be tough on holsters.

When these became available a year or two ago, I asked my self 'why?'.

A bit later the answer arrived in the form of 'why not?'.

Go for it.

I have a period correct bayonet for the Garand. Why not for a side arm?

I wish my guns could take one. There's absolutely no need, but it would be funny.

I do have a bayonet for my Webley Revolver though. Over the top lads!

I gotta ask, photos?

Somehow the image of a WW1 sawtooth bayonet on a Webley just seems sinful.

got one for my G23...definitly a novelty item looks pretty cool too! as far as SD scenario...your better off using the bullets however, it is pretty sharp and has a nasty point on it so a belly shot would do some damage

p.s. ALWAYS take off the sheath before firing! the percussion shattered mine.

An Elgin cutlass pistol from around 1840:

Might come in handy if you like to take scalps or other trophies from your kills.

The Elgin Cutlass pistol was said to have been used to good effect in combat by a naval officer when his party was attacked by pacific island warriors.

With talk of limiting the capacity of pistol magazines a blade as a back up could come in handy. And extra pistol would be handier.
