Has anyone bought a Colt AR 15 lately ?

I seen two match target competition ones at the gun shop.
They were both very blotchy finished on the stock and hand grip. Is this from some kind of oils and will it clean up ?

On the plastic? I'd expect it cleans up. Were you able to handle them? That should tell the story. Really this is pretty minor, you'll like replace both in a few months! And it's pretty hard to beat a Colt.

A handled one about a month ago and noticed the same thing. In my case it was factory oil everywhere. No big deal, it wipes clean.

I tried to wipe it with my fingers and it did not help. the stock was kind of gray and the blotches were darker.

I bought a new 6940 a few months ago. It's perfect in fit, finish and function.

I have a pair of them. The first one was purchased about 9 months ago.
(Also have an old Bushmaster fwiw).

Obviously they are out fitted with Magpul stocks, Aimpoint sights, etc.

Great rifles by any measure.

I purchased a CRE 18 a couple of months ago. It is perfect no blemishes. Took it to the range today. It's more accurate than I am.

Colt rarely... very rarely sends out a gun with a less than excellent finish. If you were to wipe down the entire gun with a silicone or oily cloth... everything would match nicely.

I recently purchased a new Colt match. I didn't have any of those problems with it. Normal amount of packing oil and it cleaned up nice.

Mine looked like crap when I got it several years ago. Felt good to me, as it was all oil that cleaned up properly and looked beautiful after cleaning.

The rifle in on lay away I am going to see if the shop owner will let me try wiping it down with a silicone cloth and see if it cleans up, I hope it does. I really like the rifle.
You guys that bought Colt's, how accurate are they ? Will they shoot 1" groups at 100 yds with factory ammo such as American Eagle ?

All Colt rifles are heavily greased in the factory and then packed in a thick plastic bag. The grease gets everywhere and makes the rifle look dirty if the shop doesn't wipe it off before putting the rifle on display. Don't worry though, it all cleans off nicely.
