Suppressing a FNAR 7.62 x 51 and a regular barrel length AK
I was told by a dealer that I won't be able to adequately suppress my FNAR or my fold under stock AK with the AAC 762 SDN-6. Opinions?

I guess with an AK you'd have to suppress the gas tube and the muzzle. The action is pretty noisy as well - heck, just wrap the entire thing in Corning insulation! (but make sure you register your insulation on a Form 1 first)

Depends on how you define adequately suppressed.
Will they be "hearing safe" (under 140 decibels)? Probably not.

FN LAR's and LF FAL's vent gas out the adjustible gas block. If you Google a You Tube video you can see what the shooter looks like after attaching a suppressor to it.
Solution would be to close the gas block but then you will be hammering your bolt group against the receiver pretty hard. |

I have no experience with the FNAR, but my 7.62x39 AKM is hearing
safe with a .30 caliber Windtalker suppressor attached to the DC Vortex. The same AKM cycles Engel Ballistic Research sub sonic ammo when suppressed. I have an UltiMAK gas tube rail on my AKM and it has the holes in it.

I've fired an AK with a suppressor fitted and every time I received a jet of hot gas from the back of the receiver! That recess where the upper receiver engages with the rear of the return spring; I have no idea what was going on inside the suppressor (which worked well), but it was uncomfortable to use.
