Your favorite .45ACP 200gr LSWC loads?

I have 2,000 200gr LSWC bullets on my bench waiting to get loaded up. I have the following powders on hand: W231, Titegroup, WSF, AA#5, and AA#7.

Anyone care to share any favorite loads for any of these powders?

Thanks!
Dave

I use HP38 (identical to W231) with 200 gr. RNFP. I suggest around 4.8 to 5.0 gr of W231 for a plinking round... this isn't at max pressure but it works nicely.

Haven't used any of the powders you have listed.

Have used 4 grs of 700X and 6 grs of Universal.

Amazing the price jump those 200's have taken over the past year.

5.0 of 231 always works pretty good for me.

What's your OAL and crimp on that 5.0gr 231 load?

5.4 gr. of Titegroup always worked nicely for me with that bullet and a WLP primer. It's an excellent powder for reasons that have been discussed here many times.

Acc#5 pushes my 200 gr RNFP with a 8.0 to 8.2 charge, seems to work out very well for my gun.

My target load for anything less than 50' is 7.5 gr of #5 does very well out of my Springfield 1911. Pretty low velocity, but I don't see any drop at that range.

4.3 gr. Winchester Super Target or Bullseye. The long discontinued Winchester/Olin 452AA was the best powder I ever found for 200 gr SWC. One hole groups out of my Springfields and my S&W 625. Super Target is almost as good.

drail, how about a .45 load with 200 grain LSWC and the discontinued Win 473AA powder? I've got a few cans of it and I'd love to roll .45 with it. I've heard it works for .45, but without data, I'm not big on experimenting.

For the original poster, my 200 grain LSWC is 4.4 grains of Bullseye, but that wasn't list as one of your powders.

5.1 gr W231 and Lasercast 200 gr SWC works good in both my Gov't Models.

The following are good with any quality H&G #68 or close copy. 1.250" OAL, W231 powder, Winchester primers and a good snug taper crimp to prevent bullet setback.

4.0 grains, for 626 fps
. Cycles & feeds perfectly in my USGI pattern 1911, really thumps pests/small game load & shoots to the sights at 20 yards or a tad further. Quiet enough that a few rounds w/o earplugs will not deafen you. Will just shoot through a pine 2x4 and sink the nose in another behind it. A friend pointed out that the ballistics of this load is a near match for the old .38, 200 grain Super Police load and I would not hesitate to use it for indoor defense. I use this load to 'cycle-out' worn-out casings and stain them black to make them readily identifiable. A favorite 'fun load' and perfect for introducing small folks to the 1911.

Same as above except 5.0 grains, for 826 fps. Good accurate load with negligible recoil, groups right along with decent JHP's like WW/USA 230; shoots to the same POI out to 50 yards. Would serve fine as a defense load if that what happens to be in the gun. I wouldn't hesitate to heart-shoot a deer with it either. Another favorite.

Yes, W231 is the official "zero to sixty" pistol powder around here. As noted above, HP38 is essentially a direct replacement.
