can you tell the age of a gun by serial?

wondering how old this winchester 1300 is that i bought from a pawn shop. it is in mint condition so it cant be that old. looks as though it is hand checkered on the furniture. can i contact winchester and give them the serial to see how old it is?

Yes you can if you want to research but it not older than

1978 Model 1300 pump & 1500 semi-auto shotguns introduced.

This was from Winchesters web sight, they dont offer sn to date on the internet that I have been able to find, but normaly if you contact them with the sn they will answer you.
I did the same with a mod 52 Win in 22 a couple of years ago.
