Brand new Mossberg 535 not cycling

I have to slide the forearm back forcefully to get a round to feed from the magazine to feed properly. Apon seeing this I took it apart, cleaned and oiled it and same thing. I only previously shot one round through it to pattern. Other than that, brand new. Unlike a Remington I see no way to remove the mag spring and clean that out too. Even had one or two failures to eject on cycling round here at the house.. Ideas? Break in?

Frustrated as I was planning to use it for Turkey in the am!

It may be a matter of breaking it in, but honestly as long as you bring it all the way back it should cycle. Obviously when you shoot it you need to make sure you pump it all the way back and do not short stroke it, but it sounds like you are doing that.

We shall see. I have never had a new pump only older ones that were smooth as silk! Thanks.

Try putting some more ammo through it. My mossberg 500 is silky smooth, but it did take some shooting to get it to that point.

If the 535 is the same as the 500, the mag spring and follower comes out the rear of the mag tube, after it is unscrewed from the receiver.

The 535 is the same as the 500, it just has a 3.5'' receiver and therefore have a longer receiver and things of that nature, but it is the same gun.
