9mm vs .40 S&W Specs

I've been having difficulties tracking down extra hi-cap mags at a reasonable price for my Astra A-100. (essentially a Sig 226 with a right side take-down lever)

Recently at a gun show I was able to purchase 2 10-rd mags for the A-100 in .40 S&W. I was able to get the mags at half to a third of the price of the 9mm mags I have found on the internet.

I originally thought that I would have to due some fabrication to make it work, but it turned out that that the 9mm fit 13 rounds, and cycled perfectly.

This being said the slide catch does catch with a single final round still in the magazine - as the catch for the .40S&W is higher than the 9mm. Essentially, this does not bother me...[and will be an easy fix].

It surprised me that the feed lips accepted, held, and released the 9mm perfectly. (I have very little past history with .40S&W) But I wasn't expecting it to work this well.

But, that being said does anyone have any idea of any other problems that might arise given the specs of the two calibers. Also is it common to be able to use mags for .40S&W with 9mm in other guns.

Pics

Here are some pics for those of you that are unfamiliar with the Astra A-100.

It is a Spanish pistol very similar to the Sig 226.

the 9mm is a tapered case at the rim there is only .012 or .013 difference IIRC.

I've used .40 mags in my 9mm CZ before with only a slight tweeking of the foward part of the feed lips.

I would get that fixed pronto. that seems like an accident waiting to happen.
I am sure it wouldn't be a big deal if you follow the rules but still......
