More fun than the Law allows...

I haven't been reloading long but can already tell that this is some great stuff! I keep precise records and last night enjoyed loading my 1,000th round. Most have been .38/.357 but the latest have been .45 ACP.

I have found it to be a *lot* of fun to try different recipes for my .45. Two of them were not what my Ruger P345 liked, in that the gun did not cycle properly when shooting them. But I've also found two recipes that it seems to love and they fire flawlessly. FWIW, the successful loads are:

5.1 gr Unique under 200 gr SWC with OAL of 1.26"

5.0 gr Titegroup under 200 gr JHP with OAL of 1.18"

Haven't decided which of the two I like best, but will probably determine that in the next few weeks. Shooting either one will be great fun! Uh, oh. Here comes the Law -- gotta run!

So did you end up getting the handpress? I've been thinking about getting one to reload .223 and 9mm. Oh yeah, and where'd you get a deal?

Yep, I did get a handpress. Actually ended up also with a single stage press that was thrown in for buying the Lee "Modern Reloading, Second Edition" handbook, by Richard Lee. I have devoured this book -- it is great!

I use the handpress mainly for depriming and sizing as I watch TV. The rest of the stuff I do out in the garage using the single stage press. I find that this approach works fine for an old codger like me.

I purchased all the stuff I got from this Lee distributor:

If you order from them, don't be in a hurry, for they are not speedy by any means.

Sorry for any confusion...

GuateShooter, the Law doesn't forbid me to have fun reloading. That's just a figure of speech that I used in an attempt at a little humor.
