The beltman horsehide quality

I'm thinking about getting a horsehide 1 1/2" belt from thebeltman for my concealed carry. I am debating on the internal stiffener to get with it but unsure. It says it's not neccessary but when I chose to get the beltman I didn't choose from Necessity I chose because I want the best. Now from someone who has experience with horsehide by beltman what do y'all think? I just know that I want a really stiff belt

I have 5 Beltman belts Two bullhide (black and brown tappered 1.5 to 1.25 kydex inserts), Two Horsehide (black and brown non tappered), One elephant grey. I purchased my first one I believe 7 years ago and one about every six months after that. The first one I purchased still looks better than lesser quality belts look after 6 months of wear. As of two years ago I must say I haven't used the leather ones daily. I use them more for dress and other occasions, I use my wilderness belts daily for work and play.

What about the stiffness of the horsehide belt? Do you have the stiffener in either of them?

The website said I wouldn't need so I didn't get it and it wasn't lying just as stiff as the bull hide with the stiffener in my opinion. And it seams to not hold moisture as much as the bull hide which will keep it stiffer longer.

I've got the 1.25 and 1.5 horsehide without the stiffener and they're fine.

I own a Beltman horsehide and often carry my full sized all steel 1911 without issue. I've had the belt for over three years and it is as stiff as the day it was new. I have no doubt that I will get several more years of heavy use out of it.

It does not have the stiffener in it and I don't believe you need it unless you plan on carrying some kind of bat utility belt set up along with your gun.

I've owned some cheaper bull hide belts and there is no comparison to the Beltman. If you take care of it, I think you'll be very happy with horsehide without the stiffeners.

Besides, if the Beltman is telling you that you don't need them, he means it. When does any one not up sell when they can? I've never had McDonalds tell me that I don't need a super size Coke, have you? If the Beltman tells you that you don't need it, then you don't.
