How do you define "Prepared" ?

We've all heard the sayings of " One is none and Two is one" or the boyscout motto to be prepared for anything, or even my grandfather's and possibly your's phylosophy of " A gun and bullits were all I needed!". Everyone has their own personal tools of the trade. So what is yours? When you walk out the front door as a professional or just the husband going to get milk, What do you reach for?

Focusing on my surroundings, who's where, what's going on (condition yellow); carrying every time I leave home, PM9 or Ultra Carry II, folding knife, cell phone ... behaving myself on the road, watching for crazy drivers ... basically, armed and paying attention ...

Look around. Actually check out your surroundings.
BGs are looking for oblivious sheep, not possible wolves that seem to be alert and ready.

Hardware:
Glock 19 + 9PBLE
Glock 17+2 mag as spare – this gives me 35 rounds with one reload.
P3AT + Corbon
Boker Automat Kalashnikov 74 reverse Tanto knife
G3 light

It's worked thus far, Lol! I also have emergency blankets, road flares, first aid kit, jumper cables and an MRE. I don't find the need to carry a gun with me every where I go. Unless I'm out camping, four wheeling, etc., I leave it at home.

If you're looking for adventure of a new and different kind
and you come across a girl scout who is similarly inclined
don't be frightened don't be flustered don't be scared

BE PREPARED.

Take your keys. Your wife may lock the door and then leave.

My first wife had the locks changed while I was at work. So much for having a key!

I usually have something on me even if it's a little .25 pocket pistol and my truck (van) has all kinds of weapons in a bucket between the seats, fillet knives, hammers, screwdrivers, Tabasco sauce. Even a bottle of water will throw off a BG for a split second and allow you to grab something else.

Common sense is the most valuable.
Situational awareness
Basic outdoor skills
Moderate first aid skills
Conflict avoidance knowledge (saved me trouble more than once!)

EDC:
Wallet (money, contact info, ID, spare key to the car, etc)
Cell phone
Pocket knife
(car keys)
[no firearm, as I am nearly always in a "gun-free" zone]

Car Kit:
Auto fluids
Jumper cables
first aid kit
flashlight
2 chem. lights
ponchos
emergency "space" blankets
fleece blanket
Pocket knife
a small amount of cash
spare set of clothes
3 energy bars
matches
shovel
tire gauge
1 gallon of water
shop towels
(I think that's it)

In the works:
Camping equipment in the car, along with 3 days worth of food/water. At least 3 ways to provide for essentials (shelter, fire, water, cutting tools) . CCW when legally permitted.

Common sense - THINK
Situational awareness - BE ALERT
Willingness - YES, I WILL SHOOT
Ability - I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOOT WITH
