Anybody Else Like Elk Stag Grips?

This is my first COVID-era gun-related purchase in over 8 weeks...
That's the longest "dry spell" of not buying any gun accessories or ammo since I was a teenager...
And that was a loooooooooong time ago...

But I think I made up for the wait in style.

Anyway, I do like Elk Stag grips, and this set called out to me:

I think they look really sharp on my Ruger Old Army. Now I can't wait to get it over to the range and have other shooters oogle over them -- from 6 feet away, of course.

This Old Army was heavily modified many years ago with:
* A handmade partridge front sight
* A Millet full-blade rear sight
* A Smooth trigger blade (filed away the grooves)
* A trigger stop added (between trigger plunger & spring)
* A 5/16" rammer extension (for target loads)
* Treso Ampco Bronze nipples
* An action job with 3# trigger pull

The grips are the latest addition, and the only change I can think of now is to shoot it MORE!

Tight groups.

Not so much on guns but I like them on trapper knives. They look really nice and natural on the Old Army.

I have a set on my Single Six. I realize they are a tiny bit too long, but I don't mind.

Works of art !!!

Absolutely and stag grips on anything, really look great. Just plain bone and dried blood, that mother-nature turned into a work of art. I make antler tip nipple-picks as well as crown buttons. .....

Good for better grip; especially if your hands get wet.

If you can't afford genuine stag grips the old Jay Scott grips might work for you. I have a set waiting for my next Ruger Single-Six or Wrangler.

The only Knife I have with a stag handle is my Brusletto puukko from Norway.

All of these just look like stag to me (except those Jay Scott things), but I'm no expert. Elk is usually browner/grayer than stag. Maybe it's just lighting? But I love the look!

What's in a name ??? !!!!

Stag has been used pretty much as a generic name, Just like everyone has a "Skillsaw" even though some are made by B&D or Craftsman. Awhile back some ne posted a picture of a revolver with stag grips even though they were made from the shovel section of a Bull Moose. ......

Those Jay Scott grips are reminiscent of the plastic stag Great Western used in the 50's.

Sorry forgot about those things. I don't have any plastic guns. But you are right, stag grips on a synthetic would be bad, and a waste of money.
